Senior Director of Property Accounting | Austin, Texas

Be an accounting leader at a publicly traded REIT located in Austin, TX.  Our Senior Director of Property Accounting must be a strategic leader among our Property Accountant team and have their CPA.  Working diligently to implement efficient and accurate accounting practices, our Senior Directors help to ensure proper accounting and financial reporting, based their strong working knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance.  We also prefer a combination of “Big 4 Firm” experience, 12+ years overall experience, 5+ years as a supervisor, and real estate accounting experience.

This position partners closely with multiple departments within our organization including operations and budget management/forecast, financial reporting and investments, the executive team, and many others to foster an integrated approach to accounting accuracy, oversight and support in all areas of our business.  Fielding requests for internal and external audit, researching technical accounting, and performing accounting review functions are all crucial aspects in the contribution of the Senior Director to the Accounting Team. 

Collaborating on policies and procedures in regard to the department (including SOX controls), financial reporting and accounting practices, is an essential part of our Senior Director’s position and allows our team to identify efficiencies and opportunities to streamline for our organization as a whole.  Team development at American Campus is a cornerstone of any department.  A desire to actively mentor others in their knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices as it relates to American Campus and our day-to-day needs as a publicly traded organization is a must have for this position.
