Lead Report Developer | Austin, Texas

The Lead Report Developer is responsible for leading a team to develop, deploy, and support critical business reports enabling metrics-driven decisions.  Responsible for delivering in an agile environment working with product owners, scrum masters, and business users.  Works as part of a collaborative team to design simple and effective solutions supporting business scalability.

Critical Duties:

  • People and technical leader responsible for guiding team through report design, development, and delivery
  • Provide architecture and design guidance to the developers; perform design and code reviews
  • Develop and edit SQL queries, views, stored procedures, functions (table and scalar value) and SSRS reports
  • Adhere to software development processes and prepare detailed documentation
  • Work with product owner to gather functional and nonfunctional requirements

Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):

  • Establish and ensure reporting standards, guidelines and processes are followed by reporting team
  • Provides expertise in software development phases from concept and design to testing
  • Effective decision-making and the ability to make technology recommendations
  • Assist in creating roadmap for reporting and analytics
  • Troubleshoots complex system issues and fix defects when required
  • Design sustainable and scalable solutions
  • Mentor team to ensure continued growth of members
  • Stay abreast of and incorporate industry best practices
  • Perform requested tasks that require application expertise
  • Work collaboratively and professionally in a multi-team environment (business and technical teams).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, another related discipline, or equivalent additional work experience
  • Technical leadership role with demonstrated success in agile environment (3+ years)
  • Direct experience with Microsoft SSAS and SSIS 2008+ (3+ years)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Technical leadership role with demonstrated success in agile environment (3+ years)
  • Direct experience with Microsoft SSAS and SSIS 2008+ (3+ years)
  • Scripting MDX queries, developing complex SQL queries, analyzing data, and integrating systems
  • Data warehouse concepts and structures
  • Dynamic SQL stored procedure coding and troubleshooting
  • Database design, development, and support
  • Technical documentation and best practices
  • Progressive experience with one or more variety of Business Intelligence and visualization tools and platforms (IE. Microsoft Power BI, IBM Cognos, SAP, Tableau, etc…), including implementation, and use (4+ years)
  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices and proficient in T-SQL for both analysis and validation
  • Data warehouse analysis and design, methodologies, and data modeling
  • Code repositories; continuous build and deployment processes (Team Foundation Services, Team City, Git Hub, Octopus, etc)
  • Customer, marketing, financial, geospatial data processing, storage and analysis Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Creating SSIS packages for integrating data from Heterogeneous data sources using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Develop, design, tune and maintain SSIS packages to perform ETL process
