What is a reasonable accommodation?
A reasonable accommodation under the Fair Housing Act (FHA) is a change, exception, or adjustment to a rule, policy, practice, or service that may be necessary for a person with disabilities to have an equal opportunity to use and enjoy a dwelling, including public and common use spaces, or to fulfill their program obligations. Please note that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) often refers to these types of accommodations as “modifications.”
Can you accommodate parking?
Parking spots are sold on a first-come first-served basis. If you are in need of an accommodated parking spot, please be sure to select “yes” under the “accommodation needed” section on the Dorms registration page so your request can be reviewed. Requests for accommodations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please understand that parking is subject to availability and you are not guaranteed a parking spot. Accessible transportation is provided to and from work.
Can you accommodate a single private apartment?
Flamingo Crossings Village does not provide a private apartment floor plan. Should you need a private apartment, we will not be able to accommodate that request and you should instead secure your own housing accommodations. Please make sure to opt out of Program housing during DORMS registration.
Can you accommodate a single private bedroom and or bathroom?
Floor plans can be preferenced during registration. While we make every attempt to honor preferences, we are not always able to grant top selection(s). Several variables factor into placing residents in apartments. Four-bedroom apartments are extremely limited in number. Should you need a private bedroom and/or bathroom, you will need to opt out of Program housing during DORMS registration and secure your own housing.
Can you accommodate an ADA accessible apartment?
Flamingo Crossings Village offers various modified apartments to meet accessible needs. Please communicate any needs prior to arrival by selecting “yes” under the “accommodation needed” section on the Dorms registration page.
Can you accommodate animals?
Approved assistance animals consistent with the Fair Housing Act (FHA) guidelines are welcomed at Flamingo Crossings Village. Please be sure to select “yes” under the “accommodation needed” section on the Dorms registration page so your request can be reviewed.
Can you accommodate a request not to live with an assistance animal?
We are able to accept a request for an animal-free apartment. It is important that the request be submitted by selecting “yes” under the “accommodation needed” section on the Dorms registration page to ensure we are able to make necessary changes.
Can you accommodate roommate preferences?
Roommate preferences are offered during select times of the arrival season. Depending on availability, we may or may not be able to accommodate a roommate preference. Roommate preferences are not accepted outside of the registration period.
Can you accommodate a nut free environment?
Although we strive to create a healthy environment, we are unable to ensure residents will comply with nut allergy precautions. Therefore, it is important that you communicate with your roommates the severity of your allergy.
Can you accommodate a dietary restricted environment?
Although we strive to create a healthy environment, we are unable to collect medical/religious-related information to ensure residents will comply with a certain dietary environment.
Can you accommodate a first floor request?
We are able to accept requests, however we are limited in accommodating based on the number of first floor apartments.
