Rising Sophomore Priority Period FAQs

What is Drexel’s Two-Year Residency Program?

This program was developed to provide First-Year/Freshmen and Second-Year/Sophomore students a wide range of learning and lifestyle housing options to customize their Drexel living experience. All three American Campus communities: Chestnut Square, University Crossings and The Summit at University City, satisfy Drexel’s Two-Year Residency Program for rising sophomores. No other off-campus student housing community qualifies.

When does the Sophomore Priority Period begin?

Applications are currently being accepted and the Priority Period begins February 3, 2024. The first round of Lease Agreements will be sent to applicants as early as February 3, 2024.

When should I expect to receive my Lease Agreement?

The leasing process will be done electronically and you will be able to complete your Lease Agreement from home or on-the-go! Lease agreements will be sent as early as February 3, 2024. If they apply after February 3, 2024 leases will be sent immediately upon receipt of the application. See sample agreement here.

What if I am going on Co-op?

All Drexel second year students qualify for ZERO cancellation fees when they receive a Co-op or study abroad outside a ten-mile radius of Drexel’s main campus.

What are Flex Floor Plans?

If you do not have a floor plan preference and do not have requested roommates, the Flex Floor Plan option is for you! When you choose this option you will not be signing for a specific floor plan, but rather electing to be placed in any of the floor plans with a Flex designation, based on availability. Select floor plans are eligible for the Flex Floor Plan program for Fall 2024. By signing for a Flex Floor Plan, they will not only receive a monthly rental discount but also have the potential of being assigned to a higher-priced floor plan, since all of the Flex Floor Plans will be offered to you at the same low rate. Note that if you opt for a Flex Floor Plan, your floor plan and room assignment will not be determined until September 2024. Have additional questions about our Flex Floor Plan program? Give us a call so we can talk through whether or not this is a good option for you.

What if the floor plan I applied for is sold out?

If the floor plan you applied for sells out before you return your signed Lease Agreement, you will receive an email stating such. We will then send you a revised Lease Agreement for the second or third choice floor plan type chosen on their application – pending availability in those floor plan types.

When can I apply?

We encourage you to apply to the community you wish to live at now, in order to ensure all information required to send an electronic Lease Agreement is obtained prior to the leasing period starting on February 3, 2024. Accommodations are limited and will be leased on a first-come, first-served basis.
