A NEW CHAPTER IN STUDENT LIVING REFLECTS THE POWER OF PARTNERSHIP, SUSTAINABILITY AND DESIGN INNOVATION
American Campus Communities recently marked the completion of Byrnes Hall at Georgetown University, a new upperclass residential community developed in collaboration with Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA), Winstanley Architects & Planners, and John Moriarty & Associates (JMA).
Opened to students in August 2025, the residence provides housing for more than 700 upperclass students in apartment-style units designed to foster connection, comfort, and well-being.
A private dedication was held on October 9 with remarks from Georgetown University President Robert M. Groves and R. Bartley Moore, Vice President for Advancement, recognizing the project’s completion and the collaborative effort behind its delivery.
Inside, students enjoy bright, open community areas, including a sunken living room framed by natural light and greenery. Thoughtfully designed wellness and reflection spaces, including a yoga and meditation studio, a quiet chapel room, and small group study lounges, offer places for calm and connection.
Outdoor courtyards equipped with electric grills and community seating have quickly become favorite gathering spots for residents. Designed by RAMSA and Winstanley Architects & Planners, the residence balances timeless architectural character with a contemporary sense of warmth and livability.
Natural materials, layered lighting, and abundant indoor plants create a restorative environment, while John Moriarty & Associates (JMA) ensured every detail of construction met high standards of quality and sustainability.
Features such as solar panels, green walls, and advanced building systems reduce environmental impact while enhancing comfort for residents. As developer and operator, American Campus Communities guided the project from concept through completion, ensuring seamless delivery and long-term operational excellence.
The residence exemplifies ACC’s mission to create student housing communities that inspire growth, connection, and belonging—spaces designed for students to truly thrive. The development is tracking LEED Platinum Certification, the highest benchmark for energy-efficient design.
