American Campus Communities Honored with Multi-Housing News 2021 Excellence Awards for Best Property Management Company

Closing out the year, American Campus Communities has earned yet another outstanding title in the Multi-Housing News 2021 Excellence Awards

Property Management Company of the Year, Silver: As a company that has nearly 3,000 dedicated employees working toward one goal of delivering the best possible experience for students, ACC was recognized for a variety of achievements in the category of Property Management Company of the Year.

Key accomplishments in 2021 include:  

  • Maintaining an average occupancy of more than 90 percent during the pandemic by providing communities where “students love living.”

  • Prioritizing health and wellbeing for employees and residents by continuing to implement touchless preventative measures throughout its communities through its  “Be safe. Be smart. Do your part.” resident responsibility and education program to set a new standard and approach to cleanliness and disinfection during the pandemic and beyond. 

  • Dedicating time and resources to its residents, especially centered around mental health and wellness through the Hi, How Are You Project (HHAY) partnership. ACC and HHAY’s College Student Fall 2020 Mental Health Report, is the largest survey of its kind targeting college students and captured over 12,000 college student responses across 65 university campuses to get a pulse as to how students are feeling and what they are doing to maintain mental health and wellbeing given the dynamics of COVID-19. 

  • Launching a new podcast series, College Talk, which features discussions from parents, university administrators, experts and students on a variety of topics including mental health, campus safety and more. 

  • Prioritizing diversity and inclusion efforts with initiatives including: becoming a signatory of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Pledge, sharing best practices by participating in diversity and inclusion panels at Urban Land Institute Philadelphia and the National Multifamily Housing Council, creating a dedicated site with resources and an open forum for discussion and ideas all related to DEI, committing to transparency of employee demographics, and offering scholarships to students at HBCU, Prairie View A&M University.

  • Maximizing value with measurable results for universities, property owners, and institutional investors by providing them with access to the industry’s most experienced people and most advanced operating system

  • Enhancing comprehensive employee development programs and ensuring opportunities remained readily accessible for all employees by moving trainings and property tours to a virtual format and implementing a record number of trainings for managers and webinars for all employees
